Children are “sense explorers”, sensorial activities are carefully designed to enhance their sensory perception and this helps them classify things in their environment.
Rather than a simple ‘tell approach’, allowing the children to do and learn by engaging in these activities helps them best. The sensorial area in a Montessori classroom is divided into categories: auditory, visual, tactile, thermic, baric, olfactory, sterognostic and gustatory.
