How Aura works
AURA embraces Maria Montessori philosophy that education is a natural process guided by the child. We recognize that children learn best through hands-on experience and exploration.
With a wide variety of Montessori materials and a dedicated team of trained and experienced staff, we provide holistic education
that nurtures the growth and development of every child in a harmonious environment.
Academics and co-curricular activities:
Our curriculum strikes a balance between academics and co-curricular activities, offering comprehensive experiences in language, math, arts, music, and field trips. We believe in nurturing well-rounded individuals who excel academically and creatively.
Celebrating diversity
Celebrating diversity is integral to our approach. We honor all festivals and cultural traditions, fostering understanding, respect, and empathy among our students. Through multicultural activities and celebrations, we weave a rich tapestry of cultural experiences.
Dr. Maria Montessori
31st August 1870, marks the birth of the originator of the educational system bearing her name, Dr. Maria Montessori
After graduating in medicine from the University of Rome in 1896 – the first woman in Italy to do so – Montessori was appointed as the assistant doctor at the psychiatric clinic of the University of Rome. It is here she became interested in the educational problems of the intellectually disabled children. She observed that these children were in need of more stimulation. It was during this time she formed her own educational philosophy.
On January 6th 1907, Dr. MM opened her first classroom The Casa dei Bambini or Children’s Home.
She first worked with mentally disabled children and observed that they responded well to a sensory-rich environment. She developed strategies for teachers to guide children in learning rather than lecture from a book.
After working with mentally disabled children, Montessori adapted her method for preschool children and then further adapted her approach to elementary and secondary students.
Montessori Method
The child-centered educational approach based on scientific observations of children values the human spirit and the development of the whole child – physical, social, emotional and cognitive.
In a Montessori classroom students work with specially /scientifically designed materials, making creative choices with self-directed, hands-on learning activities on a daily basis.
Self-motivated children reached new levels of understanding by working independently. Students learn through activities that involve exploration, order, repetition, abstraction and communication.
